Privacy
Fallen Valor’s tools are free, and we keep what we know about you to a minimum. This page explains what happens to the information you enter, how we measure site use, and how the ads on this site work.

The short version
- The Residency Check, Jobs, and Apartments tools are free. You don’t need an account.
- Address checks run in your browser. We don’t keep a record of the addresses you look up.
- We don’t sell, rent, or trade personal information.
- We use Google Analytics to see how the site is used. It never receives the addresses you check.
- Some pages show an ad from Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to show and measure those ads. You can turn off personalized ads (see below).
Address checks
When you type an address, the map, buffer measurements, and lists are worked out in your own browser. Fallen Valor does not run a server that receives or stores the addresses you check, and we don’t ask for your name.
To turn an address into a map point and to load the map and nearby data, your browser contacts these public services directly:
- Address lookup: the US Census Bureau Geocoder first, then Photon (OpenStreetMap data, run by komoot). If neither finds a rural house number, the address goes to Esri’s ArcGIS World Geocoder (free tier, set so results are not stored).
- Map and boundary data: OpenStreetMap map tiles and Overpass servers, county assessor parcel services, and other public ArcGIS map services for parcels and park outlines.
- Page code: map libraries loaded from unpkg.com.
Like any website, these services receive the text or map area being requested along with your IP address and browser details. Each one follows its own privacy policy. If you’d rather not send a street address, you can paste latitude and longitude instead.
Information we collect
- Email. If you write to [email protected], we get your email address and whatever you include. We use it to reply and to fix data problems you report, and we don’t add you to a mailing list.
- Basic server logs. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare handles routine request data (such as IP address, time, and page requested) to deliver and protect the site.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) on fallenvalor.org (Measurement ID G-MR1VYWFFPK) to understand how the site is used, for example which pages people visit, how they found the site, and which tools get used. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) and collects information such as pages viewed, approximate location from your IP address, device and browser type, and the referring site.
When you use a tool, we send Google only coarse, non-identifying details, such as which tool you used, the search distance you picked, how many results came back, the general type of result, and at most the first three digits of a ZIP code. We never send Google Analytics the address or coordinates you enter, or your name, email, or phone number. We don’t use Google Analytics data to identify you, and we don’t sell it.
To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, or block or delete cookies in your browser. The tools work the same either way. Read more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
Ads and cookies
To help cover costs while keeping the tools free, some pages show one clearly labeled ad from Google AdSense. Ads never appear inside a Residency Check result.
- Google and its partners use cookies or similar technology to show ads based on your past visits to this site and other sites, to limit how often you see an ad, and to measure results.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies lets it and its partners serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Read more at How Google uses information from sites that use its services.
- You can turn off personalized ads at Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other companies’ personalized ads at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. You’ll still see ads, but they won’t be based on your browsing.
- You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools work without them.
Fallen Valor doesn’t send the addresses you check, or anything you enter into the tools, to Google for advertising or analytics.
Children
These tools are meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13.
